Step 1: Run diagnostics and capture AI responses
Start by running your tracked questions through Brand Monitor. Each diagnostic run captures the full AI response: which brands are cited, at what rank, and which specific URLs are linked as sources. Do not just note whether you were mentioned — capture the complete AI response. The details matter.
Archive every diagnostic run. The data from January becomes your baseline comparison for March. Without archived diagnostics, you cannot measure progress. The archive is your evidentiary record — when stakeholders ask whether GEO is working, you show them the trendline from January to now.
Run diagnostics weekly for the first month to establish a reliable baseline with enough data points to detect patterns. After baseline is established, monthly runs are sufficient for trend tracking. Run additional diagnostics 30–45 days after publishing new content to measure its impact on AI citations.
- Run Brand Monitor on tracked questions — capture full AI responses, not just mention status
- Archive every diagnostic run — January data is your March comparison baseline
- Weekly for month one to establish baseline, monthly thereafter, post-publication at 30–45 days
